Guajara is Tenerife’s 3rd highest peak and named after the lovelorn princess that committed suicide near the summit because her lover Tinguaro married someone else.
Rising to 2,718 metres (9,000 feet) this impressive turret-shaped mountain has sheer cliffs on 3 sides.
We ascend the exhilarating north face offering superb views down into the crater of Las Caňadas. On the summit we discover a ruined building which was one of the first high altitude observatories to be built in the world to view the stars.
These are bespoke hikes which require a head for heights and sure footedness as the terrain is often unstable under foot.
We don't give hike descriptions per se as quite often Andy makes them up on the day taking weather into account, so it’s a surprise! One thing’s for sure - you will have a memorable day out in Tenerife's great outdoors.
